… das ist der Titel des geplan­ten STAR WARS-Films, bei dem James Man­gold Regie füh­ren soll. Den kennt man durch den Fan-Favo­ri­ten LOGAN, aber auch durch sei­ne Regie­ar­beit an INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY.

DAWN OF THE JEDI soll 25000 Jah­re vor den aktu­el­len Gescheh­nis­sen im STAR WARS-Uni­ver­sum han­deln und wird sich dar­um dre­hen, wie die For­ce ent­stan­den ist und wie sich die Jedi gebil­det haben. Man­gold sag­te bereits im ver­gan­ge­nen Jahr darüber:

It’s a chan­ce to tell the ent­i­re sto­ry of its own, the birth of the for­ce. When I first tal­ked to Kathy Ken­ne­dy about it, I just said, ‘I just see this ope­ning to make kind of a ‘Ben-Hur’ or ‘The 10 Com­man­dments’ about the birth of the for­ce.’ The for­ce has beco­me a kind of reli­gious legend that spans through all the­se movies. But whe­re did it come from? How is it found? Who found it? Who was the first Jedi? And that’s what I’m wri­ting right now.

Aktu­ell wird gemel­det, dass Beau Wil­li­mon (Mit­er­fin­der von HOUSE OF CARDS) am Dreh­buch mit­schrei­ben soll. Der schrieb auch schon Dreh­bü­cher für die ers­te Staf­fel von ANDOR, ist also nicht ganz neu beim The­ma STAR WARS.

Das Gan­ze basiert offen­bar auf einer Comic­rei­he, die zwi­schen 2012 und 2014 bei Dark Hor­se erschien. Inwie­weit man sich inhalt­lich tat­säch­lich an die­ser Vor­la­ge ori­en­tie­ren wird, ist unklar.

Einen Start­ter­min gibt es noch nicht.
