Als bester Roman wurde BLACKOUT/ALL CLEAR von Connie Willis ausgezeichnet. Das bei Spectra erschienene Buch erzählt von zeitreisenden Oxford-Geschichtsforschern aus dem Jahr 2060, die den zweiten Weltkriegs erforschen wollen und plötzlich im Jahr 1940 festhängen… Warum gleich zwei Willis-Romane geehrt wurden, konnte ich noch nicht herausfinden, ich vermute Stimmengleichheit. BLACKOUT und ALL CLEAR erschienen im September und Oktober 2010 und waren deswegen beide im Rennen.
Den Ray Bradbury Award heimste nicht ganz unerwartet der Film INCEPTION ein (und ich erkenne immer deutlicher, dass es höchste Zeit ist, sich den endlich mal anzusehen, Asche auf mein Haupt).
Beim Andre Norton Award zog Terry Pratchetts I SHALL WEAR MIDNIGHT an Favoriten wie SHIP BREAKER von Paolo Bacigalupi oder Scott Westerfelds BEHEMOTH vorbei.
