Die Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films hat die Nominierungen für ihre diesjährigen Saturn Awards bekannt gegeben. Bei den Oscars findet das Genre erneut nahezu nicht statt, weil auch dort offenbar Standesdünkel herrschen. Bei dieser Academy hat man allerdings offenbar keine Berührungsängste mit anderen Genres, weil auch beispielsweise SKYFALL mehrfach nominiert wurde und bei dem sehe ich keine SF oder Fantasy, ebenso wenig wie bei LES MISERABLES oder DJANGO UNCHAINED. Aber das geht schon in Ordnung, auch hier auf PhantaNews ist der Fokus ja erklärterweise eher unscharf.Erwartungsgemäß bei den Nominierungen weit vorne ist der HOBBIT, der allein neun Mal genannt wurde, gefolgt von LIFE OF PI und SKYFALL.
Die Stimmen für die Teilnehmer kommen von den Mitgliedern der Akademie. Die ersten Saturn-Verleihungen fanden im Jahr 1972 statt, der Moderator der Zeremonie war damals William Shatner.
